Sally P. Springer, Associate Chancellor Emerita at the University of California, Davis, is a psychologist with 25+ years of experience in higher education as a professor and university administrator. Dr. Springer received her B.S. summa cum laude from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York and her Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University. She has served on the faculty of both Stony Brook University and UC Davis.
Sally is the coauthor of Left Brain, Right Brain, published by W. H. Freeman, which was honored by the American Psychological Foundation for contributing to the public’s understanding of psychology. It has been translated into seven languages and appeared in five editions. Her second book, How to Succeed in College, is a guidebook for college freshmen.
Her third book, Admission Matters: What Students and Parents Need to Know About Getting into College, was published in a thoroughly revised and updated fourth edition in 2017 by Jossey/Bass. The fifth edition is in preparation and will appear in Fall 2023. Springer Educational Consulting was established in 2007 as a service to students and families seeking expert and supportive help with the college admissions process. In addition to her consulting practice, Sally has for many years been a featured speaker at college nights for parents and students at high schools throughout Northern California. She travels extensively to tour colleges and universities and attends national and regional college counseling conferences each year.
Sally has been a volunteer admissions reader for UC Davis and is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling, the Western Association for College Admission Counseling, the Independent Educational Consultants Association, and the Higher Education Consultants Association.
She is the mom of Erik (Stanford University, B.A. '07, M.A. '08; DePaul University, M.S. '11) and Mollie (Scripps College, B.A.'10; Duke University, D.P.T. '15).
